Commission Guidelines

Wed Feb 1, 2006, 4:30 PM
This is a guide and contract to those who wish to commission work or services from me. Please read carefully and fully. Be aware, this is for PERSONAL USE commissions only.  This means that you have the right to use your order for personal uses and for items solely for your personal use but cannot, in any way or form, receive a trade of value (money, items, online currency, and all other forms of trade) for the product produced from a commission ordered through me. If you wish for commercial work (exclusive rights) type commissions, please include this in your note me.

If you have a charity, anime club, or organization that is non-profit, I would love to work with you! Contact me for more information on rates or pro bono work. I'm down to talk and you never know until you ask.

Also note that this guide is subject to change. If you've read this guide previously and wish to commission me- before you contact me, please make sure to re-read this guide to make sure the terms are still agreeable to you!

Offering/Prices
These are BASE prices- if your request is particularly detailed or extensive, the cost will increase from these accordingly. If ordering, use the form at the bottom of this post!

...........Each additional character is double quoted price above.
..........A simple/minimal background (or no background if the commissioner desires) is included.
...........Backgrounds which are more complex/detailed have an additional charge. Contact me with details and I can get you a quote. Base prices start at $10 and go up according to detail and time involved.
...........All work is digital and transferred digitally. If you wish for a print copy, please contact me and we can chat about how to get one for you. :3

Type Definitions:
Sketch – a rough digital sketch. This may include errors and stray marks that come with the initial drawing process.
Ink- a black and white lineart conceived from the sketch stage. There are, generally, no foreseen errors or stray marks.
Tone- the ink stage plus black and white tones to give the image texture, shading, or the illusion of depth.
CG- coloration of the line art through digital means. Cel, as in cel shaded, is the more anime/cartoon style of coloration with harder edges between shading colors. Soft, as in soft shaded, will have a smoother shading appearance- blended colors and forms.

I also offer the following services:

......Inking Services
......Toning Services
......Color Flatting Services
......Coloration Services
These services begin at $10 per piece per a service and go up depending on size and complexity. I basically charge per hour spent on a piece. Again, these are meant as non-commercial use. If for commercial use, please specify in your inquiry.

I won't do:
.....full nudity or genitalia; tasteful nudity or suggestive nudity is permitted
.....porn or adult material
.....heavy gore

I will do:
.....Pretty much anything else that isn't listed above.

If you contact me with something I'm not comfortable with and isn't listed above, I will let you know (and alter the list above).

Other Important Stuff
By commissioning me and the act of sending me an email/note/any contact to do so, you hereby acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to all the terms listed in this guide. This protects both of us if there is a mis-communication later on.

You may NOT claim that the artwork was drawn/created/painted by you or any other party that is not me, Omi.

If you wish to buy a sketch/lineart and ink/color it yourself, that is personally OK by me- but I would appreciate that you credit me with what parts that I did if you are to circulate it in any manner.

No matter which rights you wish to obtain, I always maintain the right to post the image to my website or portfolio. If you do not wish for it to be public until a certain release date, please let me know and I will wait to post the image until that period of time has past. Again, I'm pretty open to negotiation and helping out on things that are reasonable.

Payment Method(s)
Currently, my only method of online payment is Paypal.  I will accept payment in person at conventions but I very strongly advise against this in case there is any type of issue that may result in a refund- I don't want to send money orders/cash in the mail and risk losing it. That would suck on both our parts. :(
It is the commissioner's responsibility to cover any paypal fees involved with the transaction-- here's a handy page to help tabulate how much to send: [link]

Process
--Note me using the form provided below. If you do not use this form, I will be very hesitant to take your request-- it helps show me that you're a serious customer. The form allows me to know you've read everything in this guide and states that you've agreed to all the terms listed. Try to give as much information and references as you can on the form-- the more you give me, the more precise the outcome. I cannot be liable for details that are not included in the form.

--After I receive your note, I will try to get in contact with you within the next day or two on whether or not I can take your commission. I will send back a price quote and additional questions, if needed.

--If the price quote is agreeable to you, I request 1/2 payment up front (or full if you prefer). My paypal details will be sent in the reply. After the payment is received, I will begin work and send a Work In Progress (WIP) as soon as I can. If any changes are needed to the draft, please specify the changes then. If a change is required after this step (i.e. you've approved the WIP and change your mind after I've begun or finished), an additional charge will be required for the extra time involved with completing or correcting the piece.

--*In the case of a sketch commission, full payment is required before work begins.

--Once I have approval of the draft image, I require the last 1/2 of the total price. I will complete the work only upon final and full payment. A small resolution or watermarked version of the final image will be sent to you for final approval and if all is OK, the full resolution, un-watermarked version will arrive shortly. If it is a color or tone image and a shade of color/tone is incorrect, I will gladly changed it free of charge since it probably isn't in the draft you okayed. Any other additional changes to the image, unless it is an error on my part, will incur an additional cost.

--If requested, I will also send small and medium size versions for use on forum signatures, websites, and other online applications. Please specify all pixel sizes you'd like.

--Please do not contact me daily for updates. If I am taking more than a week, its fine to contact me weekly as needed. I promise to at least shoot back some sort of communication ASAP, even if I'm not finished- I understand the wait and uncertainty can be frustrating and hope to alleviate it when possible.

--If, in the event I am unable to complete the commission, you can have a choice of receiving a full refund without whatever work I've finished but allowing me to reuse the concept (ie the pose or composition) or you can vouch for a partial refund and receive all work I've finished (could be a sketch or something nearly complete- refund will hinge on how much I've completed). I hope that we don't come to those terms but, hey, things happen to everyone!

Time Frame
--Generally, I try to focus on getting artwork to commissioners within a 1 to 3 week range (sometimes only days) but I have taken up to 3 months on a commission before. Therefore, it may take up to 3 months depending on what you commission and how much you commission. If it takes longer, we will be in contact during that time. I try to keep commissioners as up to date with their pieces and as comfortable as possible during the commission period- but always feel free to contact me for a report!

--I tend to work at my own pace and have other obligations and duties during the week- because of this, I can never guarantee a date or time for an artwork to be finished. If you would like to expedite your commission to have it absolutely done before a certain date it requires me to rush on it (especially ahead of other commissioners on my list), an additional charge will be applied (depending on when its due and how difficult/extensive the actual work required for the piece is for that timeframe).

--I cannot promise that I will follow my commission list from first listed to last listed. If a commission is particularly laborsome or I cannot "get it to work", I may skip to another commission to get a fresh perspective and return to the previous commissioner after that (and hopefully after my head clears!). This helps ensure that I don't sacrifice quality for quantity- and I hope it makes the artwork you've ordered even better than you expected.

What to include/form
Here is the form to use when you note me.

Paypal Address: (So I can confirm payments or, just in case, refund money)
Type of Commission: (Portrait, Hip to Head, Full body, etc.)
Color and Shading Option: (Sketch, Inked, Tone, Cel Shade, Soft Shade)
Character Information and References :
Particular attitude you wish for the image: (Happy, Sad, Angry, Confused, Crying, Smirking, Calm, Artist's Choice etc.)
Any other information you wish to include?:
Do you need expedited service (fee may apply, see Time Frame section)?

This form is important- without this information it takes a lot more time to play email/note tag than I'd rather do. Please, please, PLEASE use the form if you're inquiring!!!

Thank you so much if you've read this massive thing! And I sincerely thank you for your interest in my work and what I can do for you!

Freakin' sweet! You'd be perfect for drawing some of my characters! Do you like drawing lovescenes with pretty emo boys falling for traps? XD

Aw too bad, no full body art?

Well what about mecha elements, like, say, someone wearing Iron Man's suit?

Yeah, no fullbody artwork at this time. I can do mecha elements but, depending on complexity of them, I probably cannot do them at this time since it will require more time, effort, and research to complete.

Thanks!

How good are you at doing funny faces?

I can't really say how good I am at them since it A)depends on what kind of funny face you're wanting and B)the humor of it is a judgement call by the viewer and I can't gauge that. ^^ If you have a particular type of face you're interested in, I'm willing to work it out with you a bit before the final stages. :)

Depends on the definition of "abnormally large breasts", I guess (as in if there's just a pair of giant breast with arms and legs jutting out). XD I have nothing against drawing boobs.
